Over the past several years, the pressures on public-facing staff have increased. Members of the public can present with more complex needs. This complexity, especially for organisations in the health, education and public sectors, has resulted in greater pressure on staff in particular, and on the organisation in general. A significant element of this increased complexity is caused by the recent strong growth of Disinformation. This has led to individuals with strong world views and with methods of engagement that can be very challenging.

This short workshop will look at the role that disinformation may play in influencing members of the public, and subsequently in their engagement with employees of organisations. It will discuss what disinformation is, the effects it can have, and how an organisation might be better able to deal with its existence.

This will assist HR professionals in better understanding and responding to pressures faced by staff, especially those in public-facing roles. This will assist when advising managers on these pressures, and in the design of more effective staff training and wellness programmes.

This workshop features Nicole Skews-Poole, Director of Communications for the Disinformation Project.

The workshop is arranged by the HRNZ Wellington Branch committee, for local members only.
