Privacy rights are an increasingly important aspect of any employment relationship, and can raise tricky issues for employers. This session will provide an overview of the relevant privacy law considerations that arise in the workplace, as well as addressing frequently asked questions relating to:

  • Recruitment – privacy related do’s and don’ts
  • Workplace surveillance – cameras, GPS, and other forms of tracking
  • Monitoring an employee’s online activities, emails and social media
  • Drug and alcohol testing and other medical checks
  • Responding to requests for personal information

We will also cover some recent cases where employers have “gotten it wrong”, the potential risks that can arise under privacy and employment law, and some best practice recommendations for compliance.

It is intended to provide a snapshot of the interface between privacy law and employment relationships, focusing on practical issues that employers and employees encounter frequently in the New Zealand workplace.

An appropriate substitute participant is welcome any time before the webinar starts. Please let us know the replacement's name. If you have booked on a member price and a non member is to attend in your place you will be invoiced for the difference in price.

A refund of fees will be made if a cancellation is received in writing at least 10 working days prior to the commencement of the webinar.

Regrettably, no refunds can be made for cancellations received after this date and you are liable for the full cost of attendance at the webinar.
